Community
CCURV is dedicated to making a significant commitment to improving the lives of people living and working in Croydon. This will be
achieved through the revitalisation of the town centre and district centres whilst maintaining their character and sense of community,
providing an improved environment for Croydon and its residents.
CCURV will make its contribution through:
- Working with Croydon Commitment
- Clearly specifying the terms for community engagement during the early stages of projects
- Clearly specifying the anticipated economic benefits for the community Croydon Commitment is a business-led and funded charitable organisation, which forges links with local charities and voluntary groups.
Croydon Commitment is a brokerage service designed to bridge the gap between the community’s needs and business activity. John Laing is a member of Croydon Commitment and theJohn Laing Charitable Trust has made a donation of £75,000 in 2009 / 2010 / 2011 towards Croydon Commitment’s endowment fund.
John Laing’s involvement makes the link between CCURV’s and Croydon Commitment’s activities.
Community engagement
CCURV ensures that local communities affected by its development projects are fully engaged during the pre-planning stages. For
example, during the pre-planning stage of the Waddon leisure and social housing project the CCURV team:
- Hosted consultation and feedback meetings and exhibitions in the community

- Briefed Croydon Council ward councilors at monthly meetings
